asked the Minister for Defence whether he is aware that a youth named James Geddes, aged 17 years, was arrested in Tuam on January 27th, and after being detained in Tuam for a fortnight, was taken to Galway Jail, where he is still imprisoned; if he will say whether any charge has been preferred against Geddes, or whether it is proposed to bring him to trial, or, in view of his age and the fact that he was attending school, is he prepared to consider favourably the question of his immediate release.

Geddes was arrested on the ground of actively assisting Irregulars on intelligence work. It is not intended to put him on trial, and it is not considered advisable to release him at present.
