Vol. 135 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Marine Telephone Installations.

asked the Minister for Posts and Telegraphs if, in view of the isolated nature of Cape Clear, he will make a special effort to get the latest type of marine telephone communications installed, so as to alleviate the present unsatisfactory position.

It has already been decided to replace the radio telegraph links serving Cape Clear and a number of other islands by modern radio telephone equipment, which has been on order for some time. Delivery was expected next month but the suppliers have recently intimated that delivery is not likely before early summer. The new equipment will be brought into use as quickly as possible after it comes to hand.
