The establishment of a smelter is a matter for private enterprise and requires extensive preliminary study. As I announced during discussions on the Smelting Bill, 1966, a group of companies engaged in the mining of ores in this country is prepared to undertake such a study. The Smelting Bill, 1966, has been introduced for the purpose of facilitating such an examination and the erection of a smelter if it proves feasible.
