asked the Minister for Defence if he is aware that a person (details supplied) in Kilmainham, Dublin 8, left the Army in August of last year and so far he has not received his gratuity; if he will explain the delay; and if he will make arrangements to have the gratuity paid.
Written Answers. - Army Gratuity.

The person referred to in the Deputy's question was discharged from the Permanent Defence Force at his own request on compassionate grounds. Under the Defence Forces (Pensions) Schemes a gratuity is not payable to a soldier discharged on compassionate grounds prior to the termination of his Army service.
