Vol. 345 No. 6

Written Answers. - Income Tax Adjustments.

342.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will correct a tax allowance error for a person (details supplied) in County Wexford.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that the taxpayer submitted an application to the inspector of taxes on 26 April 1983, for additional relief in respect of a lump sum payment which was made during the year 1982-83. The inspector wrote to the taxpayer on 16 May for further particulars to enable the liability for that year to be reviewed but the required details have not been supplied.

343.

asked the Minister for Finance the reason a tax-free allowance has not been granted to a person (details supplied) in County Galway who applied for it in July 1983; the date on which it will be granted; and the amount which will be granted.

I have been advised by the Revenue Commissioners that, on receipt of a notification on 12 July 1983, that the taxpayer had commenced employment, the inspector of taxes wrote to him for further details to enable a tax-free allowance certificate to be issued. The taxpayer replied on 6 August indicating that the particular employment had ceased.

Following further correspondence in the matter, an application for a refund of tax on the grounds of unemployment was submitted by the taxpayer on 28 September 1983. The inspector wrote to the taxpayer on 17 October for further information to enable the claim to be processed but the required details have not yet been supplied.
