63 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the number of applicants for Irish citizenship in each of the last ten years; if, in respect of such applications, she will give the numbers granted and refused in each year; and the number of applications currently awaiting decision for more than one year, two years, three years or awaiting decision for four years or longer.
64 Mr. Shatter asked the Minister for Justice the countries of origin of each of the persons granted Irish citizenship in each of the last ten years; and the countries of origin of each of the applicants for Irish citizenship whose applications currently await determination.
I propose to take Questions Nos. 63 and 64 together. In the time available it is not possible to provide the information in the manner sought by the Deputy. I have asked my Department to compile such statistics as are available in this area and I will communicate with the Deputy in the matter in the near future.
