Vol. 496 No. 4

Written Answers. - Medical Cards.

Michael Ring

Ceist:

232 Mr. Ring asked the Minister for Health and Children the reason the Eastern Health Board will not recognise a medical card issued by the Western Health Board for a person (details supplied) in County Mayo residing in a nursing home in County Dublin; and if he will ensure that the Eastern Health Board recognises this person's medical card or issue a new one. [23062/98]

As the Deputy will be aware, the provision of medical cards is a matter for the chief executive officer of the relevant health board.

I have asked the chief executive officer of the Eastern Health Board to investigate this case as a matter of urgency and respond directly to the Deputy.
