Phil Hogan

Ceist:

192 Mr. Hogan asked the Minister for Finance if there will be urban growth centres proposed for the Objective One region in the national development plan; the centres under consideration; the level of support envisaged for these centres; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11731/99]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 189, 191 and 192 together.

Work is ongoing in my Department on developing proposals for Government on priorities and overall resources for the National Development Plan 2000-2006. While I am not accordingly in a position to go into the details of the plan, I would refer the Deputy to my combined response to Questions Nos. 78, 80, 84, 97 and 310 of Tuesday, 20 April 1999.

If the structural fund regulations are adopted, as anticipated, at the end of May we would then have until the end of September to submit the plan to the European Commission. We will however, endeavour to finalise the plan and to submit it to the European Commission before the end of July, if possible.
