Vol. 504 No. 2

Written Answers. - Garda Stations.

Ivor Callely

Ceist:

275 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the personnel levels and support vehicles available to Clontarf Garda station; if he has satisfied himself that there is adequate personnel and vehicles to meet demand; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [11283/99]

The detailed allocation of Garda personnel and resources to individual areas is a matter for the Garda authorities who have advised that the current personnel strength (including all ranks) of Clontarf Garda station, as of 31 April 1999, is 51.

The Garda authorities have also advised that the following official vehicles are allocated to Clontarf Garda station and utilised in patrolling the sub-district: one official marked patrol car, one official motor cycle, one unmarked car (detective unit), two unmarked cars (drugs unit), one community police van.
The Garda authorities have also advised that they are satisfied that the best possible Garda service is being provided in the Clontarf area with the current deployment of resources and allocation of vehicles.
