The consumer price index covers domestic home heating oil and motor fuels. Information is collected on a monthly basis from a panel of home heating oil distributors and petrol stations throughout the country.
According to the latest available data, home heating oil has increased by 44% in the 12 months to December 1999, while the cost of motor fuels, which includes petrol, diesel and LPG, has increased by 11.8% in the same period. These increases reflect the increased cost of crude oil.
