The operator in question has made an application for a licence to operate school bus services during school terms between Ballyedmond and Monamolin school. The application was received on 26 April 2001 and in keeping with the Department's policy of dealing with applications on a first come first served basis, the application was placed in a queue to be dealt with in turn.
I understand this application is under consideration in accordance with the provisions of the Road Transport Act, 1932, and having regard to current licensing guidelines. A decision is expected shortly and my Department will contact the operator immediately to advise him of the outcome of his application.
A further seven applications to operate passenger services were submitted to the Department of Public Enterprise by the operator in question on 31 October 2001. These applications have been queued along with other applications and will be dealt with in due course.
