197 Mr. Naughten asked the Minister for Health and Children further to Parliamentary Question No. 457 of 25 March 2003, the cost of maintaining a patient in a long-stay hospital run by the Midland Health Board; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16234/03]

The Midland Health Board has supplied a figure of €125.40 per day for the average cost of maintaining a patient in one of its long-stay hospitals. The board has further advised that the charges vary from institution to institution depending on the range of services offered.
