Vol. 568 No. 6

Written Answers. - Air Services.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

154 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Transport if the Government has received a request from Aer Rianta for permission to increase its borrowing levels to finance new capital projects; his views on the request; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [16882/03]

Aer Rianta sought an increase of €100 million in its statutory borrowing limit. In accordance with section 13(6) of the Air Navigation and Transport (Amendment) Act 1998, I recently approved this increase with the consent of my colleague, the Minister for Finance. A copy of the relevant order will be laid before each House of the Oireachtas as soon as possible. Aer Rianta's statutory borrowing limit now stands at €671 million and the additional borrowing level may be used by the company as required to assist with the financing of its investment programmes, including capital developments at the three State airports.

Question No. 155 answered with Question No. 112.
