Vol. 569 No. 5

Written Answers. - Community Development Projects.

Brian O'Shea

Ceist:

116 Mr. O'Shea asked the Minister for Community, Rural and Gaeltacht Affairs if he will address the concerns of a person (details supplied) in County Donegal; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [18150/03]

As previously stated in this House, each community development project, CDP, is an independent company limited by guarantee, with its own memorandum and articles of association. Contracts are awarded to CDPs by my Department, subject inter alia to the condition that such legal status applies.

Membership of the management committee of a CDP is determined by the articles of association. My Department has no role in regard to nominating members of CDP management committees. In the circumstances, it would not be appropriate for me to intervene on behalf of any individual who wishes to become such a member. It is open to the person concerned to become involved in the CDP without becoming a member of the management committee.

Question No. 117 answered with Question No. 58.
