Before coming to the Order of Business I propose to deal with a number of notices under Standing Order 31.
Requests to move Adjournment of Dáil under Standing Order 31.
I seek the adjournment of Dáil Éireann under Standing Order 31 to discuss the following matter of urgent public and national concern, namely, the necessity to establish a ministry for disability affairs which would represent optimum value for money and maximum efficiency in the coordination of services to the entire disability sector; have responsibility for the drafting and enforcement of rights-based disability legislation; and to serve as a focus for providing disabled people with a full range of opportunities and choices to improve their quality of life and be respected and included as equal members of society.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the meeting in Luxembourg today under the auspices of the World Health Organisation and the EU to discuss measures to deal with the predicted pandemic of avian flu and the urgent need for the Department of Health and Children to formulate plans to deal with such an outbreak.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of urgent national importance, namely, the implications of yesterday's High Court award of €370,000 to a man who was abused at a Kilkenny industrial school including the need to review the awards made by the Residential Institutions Redress Board given that the court decision allows for well above the average award from the board and that only 12 of the 2,500 awards so far made by the board were in the €200,000 to €300,000 range.
I seek the adjournment of the Dáil under Standing Order 31 to raise a matter of national importance, namely, the failure of the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources to release the industry commissioned quantified risk assessment, QRA, on the Corrib gas pipe line and why he will not commission an independent QRA in the interest of the health and safety of the residents who must live beside the Mayo gas upstream pipeline.
Having considered the matters raised, they are not in order under Standing Order 31.
