290 Mr. P. Breen asked the Minister for Communications, Marine and Natural Resources further to Question No. 267 of 19 April 2005, if funding will be provided to increase the pier at Doonbeg, County Clare; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [9313/06]
Amharc ar fhreagraDoonbeg pier is owned by Clare County Council and responsibility for its repair and maintenance rests with the local authority in the first instance. The Department's programme of funding for small fishery harbours for 2006 is under consideration. The question of providing funding for Doonbeg pier will depend on the amount of Exchequer funding available for works at fishery harbours generally and overall national priorities.
