Amharc ar fhreagraThe Dunlavin Sewerage Scheme is included for funding in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2007-2009 at an estimated cost of €5.1m. My Department has approved Wicklow County Council's Preliminary Report and is awaiting submission of a construction stage budget for the scheme by the Council.

Amharc ar fhreagraThe Arklow Sewerage Scheme is approved for funding in my Department's Water Services Investment Programme 2007-2009 at an estimated cost of €15.9 million. I understand that the unsuccessful applicant to the High Court for a judicial review of An Bord Pleanála's decision to grant approval for the proposed wastewater treatment plant has been given leave to appeal to the Supreme Court and has exercised that option. Further progress on this element of the scheme will depend on the outcome of these proceedings.
In May 2006, my Department conveyed approval to Wicklow County Council to undertake advance works on the Northern Interceptor Sewer, costing €1.25million, in conjunction with road works adjacent to the Bridgewater development in the town. The Council is also considering whether any other elements of the scheme should be advanced pending the outcome of the Supreme Court proceedings. Any ensuing proposals will be examined as quickly as possible by my Department.
