Amharc ar fhreagraComReg conducted a public consultation on a switch-off of the eir copper network and received submissions from a range of bodies. ComReg issued a ‘Response to Consultation and Decision’ on the matter on 1st November 2023, which placed detailed regulatory obligations which eir need to comply with in the event that eir decide to proceed with switching off their copper based network. These obligations provide protections for consumers and businesses.
The ComReg decision is available on the ComReg website at www.comreg.ie/publication/framework-for-the-migration-from-legacy-infrastructure-to-modern-infrastructure-2. Under this Decision eir must submit a plan to ComReg and I understand that no such plan has been submitted to date.
