Ceisteanna (475)

Catherine Murphy

Ceist:

475. Deputy Catherine Murphy asked the Minister for Justice the current number of roads policing Gardaí who have access to the 'traffic app' to search driving licences by scanning the driving licence rather than having to type in manual details; and if she will make a statement on the matter. As you may be aware, the Garda Commissioner is responsible for the management and administration of An Garda Síochána under Section 26 of the Garda Síochána Act 2005 (as amended), which includes all operational policing matters. As Minister, I play no role in these independent functions.

In March of this year, there were 631 Gardai assigned to roads policing. I am informed that all Roads Policing Gardaí have access to the app in question.
