Business innovation and enterprise support to be examined by Committee on Jobs, Social Protection and Education

18 DFómh 2011, 14:17

Minister of State for Innovation and Research, Sean Sherlock, TD and representatives from Enterprise Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland will appear before the Committee on Jobs, Social Protection and Education tomorrow, Wednesday, 19th October, to examine proposals to support enterprise and promote business innovation.

Chairman of the Committee Deputy Damien English said: “Enterprises and business innovation will only thrive with the proper supports and appropriate infrastructure in place, whether it is business incubation centres, business mentoring and expert advice, access to specialised facilities and research and development expertise, appropriate funding and marketing support. Supporting enterprise development and business innovation will be a key element in creating jobs to tackle our unemployment problem.

Our meeting tomorrow with the Minister and with officials from Enterprise Ireland and Science Foundation Ireland will provide members of the committee with an update on current and future proposals for enterprise development and the promotion of business innovation. It will also allow Committee Members to raise any issues or concerns they may have in relation to proposals to support enterprise, promote business innovation and create jobs.”

This meeting will take place on Wednesday 19th October, in Committee Room 3, Leinster House 2000 at 9.30am.
