Committee on European Union Affairs to discuss EU 2020 Strategy with Social Justice Ireland and Business in the Community

Dr Seán Healy of Social Justice Ireland and Germaine Noonan from Business in the Community Ireland will appear before the Oireachtas Joint Committee on European Union Affairs tomorrow, Thursday, October 20th, to discuss a number of key elements of the EU 2020 strategy in the areas of education and social cohesion.

Joe Costello, TD, Chairman of the Committee on European Union Affairs, said: “Europe 2020 is the EU’s strategy to turn the union into a smart, sustainable and inclusive economy. At our meeting tomorrow, Members of the Community will have the chance to discuss the role of School/Business Partnerships in delivering the EU2020 strategy targets on education and training with Germaine Noonan from Business in the Community Ireland.

Dr Seán Healy of Social Justice Ireland, the well-known commentator on issues of economic and social justice, will discuss the current developments in the socio-economic situation in Ireland in the context of the EU 2020 Strategy and the Programme for Government with the Committee.”

The Committee will meet at 11.30am on Thursday, 20th October, in Committee Room 3, Leinster House 2000.
