Jobs Committee to hear from the IDA on their 2014 Annual Report and Current Activity

14 Noll 2015, 11:58

The Joint Committee on Jobs, Enterprise and Innovation will convene tomorrow to hear from representatives of the IDA on the findings of their 2014 Annual Report and also about their current activity. The IDA work to attract foreign direct investment to Ireland and are a key influencer in the development of the Irish economy and its reputation abroad.

14 December 2015

The meeting will commence at 1.30 pm in Committee Room 2 tomorrow, Tuesday, 15 December 2015.

Committee Chair, Marcella Corcoran Kennedy TD said, “2014 was a year that saw signs of recovery in the domestic economy and the IDA were no doubt a key driver of this economic growth through their ability to achieve, grow and maintain FDI in Ireland. In 2014 IDA client companies created over 15,000 jobs. This direct impact forms the basis for strong growth but the secondary impact is also significant through salaries and wages, purchase of materials and services and also corporation tax return.”

“The work of the IDA cannot be underestimated and so we look forward to tomorrow’s meeting which will allow us, as a Committee, to hear how they performed in 2014 and also outline their plans for future growth.”

Prior to the discussion with the IDA, the Committee will engage in Scrutiny of EU legislative proposals: Schedule B: COM(2015)469; COM(2015)567; EWN(2015)C 355-06 and EWN(2015)C 355-07.
