Vol. 180 No. 10

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Galway Industries.

16.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will state the number of proposals before his Department for establishing industries in (a) Galway city, (b) the West Galway area (excluding the city) and (c) the rest of County Galway; and when decisions in each case are likely to be finalised.

The number of industrial proposals for the respective areas is as follows:—

Galway City

4

West Galway

3

The rest of County Galway

3

As the development of industrial proposals depends on decisions by the promoters as well as by whatever Governmental or other agencies may be concerned, I am not in a position to give the information asked for in the last part of the question. I can assure the Deputy that, in so far as proposals may depend on decisions by me, no time will be lost in reaching such decisions.

Is the Minister aware that they will get full co-operation in Galway in respect of any proposals for the West?

As in any other part of the country.

They will get even more co-operation in Galway as well as suitable sites.
