I am informed by Bord na Móna that although there may appear to be substantial reserves of bog in County Mayo, their investigations have shown that, apart from the bogs associated with the Bellacorick power station, which include the Bangor Erris/Geesala and Keenagh/ Dooleeg reserves, there are no deposits of turf extensive enough or deep enough for economic exploitation by the board's present production methods anywhere in the county.
