Vol. 245 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Waterford Denture Supplies.

8.

asked the Minister for Health if he is aware that there is a delay of up to 15 months in the supply of dentures to patients of the Waterford Health Authority; and if all possible steps will be taken to clear the waiting list and ensure that in future dentures can be supplied within a reasonable period.

I understand from the Waterford Health Authority that the general waiting period for the supply of dentures has been reduced considerably in recent months and that the authority has provided an additional weekly clinic which, it is expected, will further reduce the average waiting time to about six months, a not unreasonable period. There is no delay in providing dentures for persons in the recognised priority classes, who require dentures for special medical reasons.
