Mr. R. Bruton

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he will give for each year since 1979 (i) the wholesale price and (ii) the retail price of each of (a) premium petrol, (b) regular petrol, (c) motor diesel and (d) home heating oil.

Details of the wholesale and retail prices, in pence per litre, of the products in question are set out in the following tabular statement. The range of maximum prices in each year is shown.

As regards home heating oil, it is understood that the wholesale prices listed are in fact the prices at which product was generally available to the consumer. The retail price of motor diesel was not notified to the Department until 1984.
