Question:

14 Mr. Broughan asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the progress, if any, made to date in her discussions with the director of the National Archives regarding the provision of additional resources to enable it to recruit additional staff and provide a better service; and if she will make a statement on the matter. Ivor Callely

Question:

42 Mr. Callely asked the Minister for Arts, Heritage Gaeltacht and the Islands the proposals, if any, she received from the Director of the National Archives in relation to the need for additional services; the progress made; and if she will make a statement on the matter. [6343/00]

I propose to take Questions Nos. 14 and 42 together.

I refer the Deputy to my reply to Question No. 77 of 1 February when I stated that proposals in relation to extra staffing resources were being discussed with the Director of the National Archives. These discussions are still ongoing.
