Written Answers. - Garda Deployment.

Tony Gregory

Question:

407 Mr. Gregory asked the Minister for Justice, Equality and Law Reform the number and rank of gardaí based in the Bridewell, Dublin 7; and the numbers available to patrol the Bridewell District. [18287/00]

I am informed by the Garda authorities who are responsible for the detailed allocation of resources to an individual area that the total number of gardaí based in the Bridewell, Dublin, as of 23 June 2000 is 161. This figure is broken down by rank as follows – one superintendent; six inspectors; 25 sergeants and 129 gardaí. Of the total number of 161, the following gardaí are available to patrol the Bridewell District – five inspectors; 14 sergeants and 99 gardaí. The remaining gardaí are assigned to other duties, including the court presenters office, court supervision and garda welfare.
