Vol. 546 No. 3

Written Answers. - Hospital Capital Development.

Seán Haughey

Question:

230 Mr. Haughey asked the Minister for Health and Children when sanction will be given for the second phase of the development of the Incorporated Orthopaedic Hospital of Ireland, Clontarf, Dublin 3; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [31752/01]

In October 2000 my Department approved the establishment of a project team for a major capital development at the Incorporated Orthopaedic Hospital, Clontarf. The development will include the replacement of 32 orthopaedic rehabilitation beds and the relocation of paramedical services, outpatients department and associated clinical and non-clinical services. This will increase the total bed complement of the hospital from 104 to 160 beds.

My Department, in conjunction with the Eastern Regional Health Authority, is at present examining the progression of this development in the overall context of national development plan resources available to the authority in 2002 and future years.
