Vol. 552 No. 3

Written Answers. - Disabled Drivers.

Bernard J. Durkan

Question:

110 Mr. Durkan asked the Minister for Finance when he expects to publish the report by the interdepartmental study group examining the Disabled Drivers and Disabled Passengers (Tax Concessions) Regulations, 1994; the length of time the group has been meeting; the length of time it proposes to meet; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [12572/02]

The disabled drivers' and disabled passengers' tax concessions scheme is being reviewed by an interdepartmental group which is chaired by an official from the Department of Justice, Equality and Law Reform. Officials from the Revenue Commissioners, the Department of Health and Children, the Department of Social, Community and Family Affairs and my Department are also represented on the group. The group was established in 1998 and I understand 25 meetings have been held to date. While I have received no definite date for completion of the group's report, it is intended that the report will be published once the deliberative process is fully completed.
