Committee of Public Accounts to examine 2022 Appropriation Account for An Garda Síochána

The Committee of Public Accounts (PAC) will meet tomorrow, Thursday, 21 March, with the Garda Commissioner Drew Harris and representatives of An Garda Síochána to examine Appropriation Account 2022 - Vote 20 (Garda Síochána).

The meeting at 9.30am in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will be joined by the Comptroller and Auditor General, Mr Seamus McCarthy, and officials from the Department of Justice and the Department Public Expenditure, NDP Delivery and Reform.

The afternoon session, beginning at 1.30pm, will consider correspondence and other business of the Committee.

PAC Cathaoirleach Deputy Brian Stanley said: “The Committee welcomes this opportunity to meet with Commissioner Harris, who is An Garda Síochána’s Accounting Officer answerable to the PAC, and his colleagues to examine the 2022 expenditure of the organisation, which totalled €2.2 billion.

“Areas of interest for Committee include staffing and recruitment matters, policing of public order incidents, investigation management, evidence management, emergency response times, community policing and the Pulse computer system. Members looks forward to a wide-ranging discussion with Commissioner Harris and his management team on these issues and related matters.”
