Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine to hold separate engagements with Irish Harness Racing Association and Chairperson Designate of Collite

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine will meet tomorrow, Wednesday, 17 April, for separate engagements with the harness racing sector and the Chairperson Designate of Coillte.

The meeting at 5.30pm in Committee Room 3 of Leinster House will be split into two session:

5:30pm-7pm – Tote licencing issues in respect of harness racing with representatives from Irish Harness Racing Association (IHRA);

7pm-8:30pm – Ms Vivienne Jupp, Chairperson Designate, Coillte.

Committee Cathaoirleach Deputy Jackie Cahill said: “In our first session, the Committee welcomes representatives of the Irish Harness Racing Association to discuss their request to be granted a tote licence, which they believe will allow their sport to become self-financing. 

“In our second session, Members welcome this opportunity to meet with Ms Jupp as the Chairperson Designate of Coillte to discuss her strategic priorities and we look forward to hearing her vision for the State forestry body during the term of her appointment.”

The Joint Committee on Agriculture, Food and the Marine has 14 Members, nine from the Dáil and five from the Seanad.
