Vol. 528 No. 1

Written Answers. - Freedom of Information Requests.

Question:

91 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of freedom of information requests received by his Department; the number of requests rejected; if he will review the treatment of freedom of information requests; and if he will make a statement on the matter. [29457/00]

Since the Freedom of Information Act, 1997, came into operation in April 1998, some 330 FOI requests have been received in my Department, 57 of which were refused. I am informed by management that the Department is dealing with FOI requests in line with the provisions of the FOI Act and that there is no need, at this time, for a review of procedures for the treatment of such requests.
