91 Dr. Upton asked the Minister for the Marine and Natural Resources the number of freedom of information requests received by his Department; the number of requests rejected; if he will review the treatment of freedom of information requests; and if he will make a statement on the matter. Since the Freedom of Information Act, 1997, came into operation in April 1998, some 330 FOI requests have been received in my Department, 57 of which were refused. I am informed by management that the Department is dealing with FOI requests in line with the provisions of the FOI Act and that there is no need, at this time, for a review of procedures for the treatment of such requests.
