Vol. 22 No. 17

GAELTACHT COMMISSION REPORT.

A notice of motion appears in my name dealing with the Gaeltacht, and the President promised to give time for the discussion of that motion some time ago. I would now like to ask him when that time will be given.

My recollection is that I said I would consider the matter when I saw the motion. I saw it for the first time to-day. I am not in a position at the moment to say whether I can give time for its discussion. The Deputy is aware that something like three and a half hours is devoted to private members' business each week, and they have in fact, been given time in excess of that. It is proposed to adjourn for the Easter Recess at the end of this week, and on the resumption to take, so far as the Government is concerned, mainly financial business. The other business which the Government will place before the House will not amount to very much. I am not in a position to say what time, if any, I can give for a discussion on the Deputy's motion.
