Politics and society live experiences

The politics and society class from Castleknock Community College visiting Leinster House

Politics and society live experiences

Leaving cert politics and society classes are invited to take part in two live experiences: a visit to Leinster House or a "Ceann go Ceann" video conference with the Ceann Comhairle of Dáil Éireann.

  • The Leinster House visit includes a tour of the Dáil and Seanad Chambers. The students then hold their own debate in one of the Committee rooms, usually on one of the four titles issued for the citizenship project. TDs for the schools' constituencies sometimes drop in for a chat.
  • With the Ceann go Ceann video conference, students and teachers have the chance to speak directly to the Ceann Comhairle, Seán Ó Fearghaíl, and ask him all their questions about Irish politics and the Oireachtas.
