Vol. 27 No. 9

CEISTEANNA—QUESTIONS. WRITTEN ANSWERS. - OWEN H. DONNELLY ESTATE (KILDARE).

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries whether he can state (a) the date of the appointed day, as prescribed in the Land Act, 1923, for the estate of Owen H. Donnelly and others, in the townlands of Roseberry and Hawkfield, barony of Connell, County Kildare; (b) the amount of payment in lieu of rent at present paid by each allottee and the area of each holding, also the amount of annuity which each allottee must pay after the appointed day; (c) whether he will furnish a detailed return of the purchase money paid to landlord, and any other charges on the estate, and also showing how the amount of annuities in each case is arrived at and assessed.

The lands. 300 acres, in this matter were acquired by the Land Commission under the provisions of the Land Act, 1923. The price, £5,200, was advanced on the 26th March, 1926, being the appointed day in this case.

The lands, improved by the construction of roads and fences, have been let in twelve divisions under agreement for letting for temporary convenience, at annual rents amounting to 4¾ per cent. on the resale price of £5,326, with a view to the ultimate resale thereof to the selected tenants, subject to land purchase annuities under the Act. Having regard to the demands on the staff of the Land Commission, I am not prepared to furnish the detailed returns asked for.
