Vol. 29 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Increased Cottage Rents (Naas).

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether he has had submitted to him for sanction a proposal adopted by the Naas Urban District Council to increase the rents of council cottages, and whether, in view of the fact that the increases proposed are in some cases as much as two-thirds of the present rents, and that the proposal was adopted only by the casting vote of the chairman of the Council, he will, before giving his sanction, cause inquiry to be made into the reasonableness of the proposed increases.

I have no functions as regards either fixing or withholding of sanction to the proposals referred to which are within the discretion of the Council.
