Mr. Crowley

The Ballylanders figure shows that out of 31 bulls presented for inspection only five were passed. Does the Minister consider that with a milk supply of over 5,000 gallons in the district five bulls with four or five others would be sufficient for the farmers in the district?

Mr. Hogan

That only refers to yearling bulls; there may be several two, three or four year old bulls in the district.

Mr. Crowley

Is the Minister aware that so far as my own district is concerned calves are practically all sold off every year and that for the past few years there has been grave dissatisfaction with the number of bulls rejected in that area and that there are not sufficient bulls for the requirements of the farmers? What steps will he take to see that undue hardship is not caused to the farmers in those districts? There is another matter here. Out of 32 bulls presented for inspection only four were passed in the Glin district. There is a big supply of milk in that district and does the Minister consider that four bulls would be sufficient for the whole of that area?

Mr. Hogan

My information is that there are ample bulls in the neighbourhood.

Mr. Crowley

I do not think that is so. Perhaps the Minister will meet me after question time as I would like to speak to him on the matter.

Mr. Hogan

I shall be glad to meet the Deputy.
