Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Gárda Coal Supplies.

asked the Minister for Finance if he will state (a) the respective quantities and costs of Saorstát coal and foreign coal purchased by the Board of Works during the financial year ended the 31st March, 1931; (b) the quantity of each supplied for use in Gárda barracks; and (c) the total cost of fuel supplied out of public funds to Gárda barracks during that year.

(a) The total quantity of coal purchased by the Board of Works during the financial year ended 31st March, 1931, was as follows:—

The figures of foreign coal include 525 tons costing £832 supplied on repayment for various services not provided for in the Vote for Public Works and Buildings.

The foregoing figures are exclusive of supplies for the Army, prisons, and for the Department of Posts and Telegraphs outside the Dublin district which, though purchased under contract made by the Commissioners of Public Works, are paid for out of the Votes of the consuming Departments. (b) and (c) Information as to the cost of supplying coal to Gárda barracks is a matter for the Department of Justice.
