Vol. 40 No. 22

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Kenmare Sewerage Scheme.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he is aware that the recent Kerry Board of Health got plans and specifications prepared and the necessary motion passed for a sewerage scheme in Kenmare, Co. Kerry; that fever has broken out in the town, and whether he will now sanction the sewerage scheme.

A proposal for a sewerage scheme for Kenmare was under consideration by the board of health in May, 1930. It was then suggested to the board of health that, owing to the generally unsatisfactory financial position, and to the high rates in the county, the board of health should confer with the county council as regards new works of this kind which would involve additional borrowing. There has been no outbreak of fever in the town which would be referable to a sewerage scheme as is suggested in the question. It is open to interested parties locally to make to the commissioner representing the board of health any representations they may wish.
