Vol. 41 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Weekly Close Season for Salmon.

asked the Minister for Lands and Fisheries if he will take the necessary steps to amend the present weekly close season for salmon drift-net fishing so as to permit of such fishing on Sunday night.

The close season is fixed by the Salmon Fishery Act of 1863, and could only be altered by amending legislation. Representations on the subject have been made to me by the Moville and Letterkenny Boards of Conservators, and I have the matter under examination.
