Vol. 48 No. 4

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Workmen's Compensation Legislation.

asked the Minister for Industry and Commerce if he is yet in a position to state when proposals for legislation to make better provision for workmen's compensation will be introduced.

I am not yet in a position to say when this Bill will be introduced.

Arising out of the Minister's reply, I want to ask if the Minister appreciates that an improved Workmen's Compensation Bill has been promised for a long period, and is he aware that the Minister for Industry and Commerce recently indicated his intention of introducing such a Bill at an early stage?

Is the Minister aware that the Minister for Industry and Commerce gave a definite undertaking in the House that he would introduce this Bill this session?

I regret I cannot add anything to what I have already stated in my reply.

Is the Minister aware that an improved Workmen's Compensation Bill is more necessary than the appointment of trustees for a pier in Kerry or Clare.

Will the Deputy say what is the urgency?
