Vol. 50 No. 12

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Tobacco Growing in South Wexford.

asked the Minister for Agriculture whether in view of the great success that attended the growing of tobacco in County Wexford last year, and the fact that the crop has been regularly grown in South Wexford in years gone by, he will offer the farmers of County Wexford a preferential share when distributing acreage for tobacco this year.

Dr. Ryan

The reply to the concluding portion of the question is in the negative, save in so far as the conditions regarding the special suitability of applicants and the facilities at their disposal for the growing and curing of tobacco on a commercial basis (referred to in my reply to another question to-day on the subject of tobacco growing) are found to apply.
