Vol. 53 No. 18

Agricultural Co-operative Societies (Debentures) Bill, 1934—Report and Final Stages.

I move amendment No. 1:

In page 5, Section 7 (1) (b), lines 22 and 23, to delete the words "if and when such charge could lawfully be made."

This amendment was moved on Committee Stage and withdrawn at the request of Deputy Cosgrave so that further time might be given for its consideration. As I explained then, Section 7 deals with loans issued by the Agricultural Credit Corporation on the security of uncalled capital. It is considered by their lawyer, and concurred in by the draftsman, that there might be the possibility of their right to these loans being disputed if these words were to remain in the Bill. Therefore, I propose to have them deleted.

Amendment agreed to.
