Vol. 56 No. 2

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Absorption of Approved Societies by Unified Society.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state whether all the former approved societies were absorbed by the Unified Society; and if he will state the total amount of compensation paid to employees whose services were dispensed with subsequent to their employment by the Unified Society and the number of (a) permanent, and (b) temporary employees now in the service of the Unified Society.

All former approved societies have been transferred to Cumann an Arachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte.

The total amount of compensation paid to employees of former approved societies whose services were discontinued is £122,119 12s. 5d., up to the 27th April, 1935. The Society informs me that it will take some time to segregate the payments made to employees whose services were dispensed with subsequent to their employment by the Unified Society. When I receive the figures I will send them to the Deputy.

The present staff of Cumann an Arachais Náisiúnta ar Shláinte is 626, of whom 604 are permanent and 22 temporary.
