Vol. 56 No. 8

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - South Tipperary Water Schemes.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health if he will state what is the delay as regards the following water schemes in South Tipperary, namely, Cappawhite, Dundrum, The Commons, Ballingarry and Killenaule; if he will state when the grants will be made available for these schemes, and when an inspector from his Department will visit the areas and report.

The initiation of water schemes for these areas rests with the Local Authority, and the Department does not usually make inspections until complete drawings have been submitted. Plans were received for a water supply for Cappawhite, but the drawings were incomplete and were returned in March last for amendment. It also appeared that the right to take water from the source proposed had not then been secured by agreement. Plans for a water supply and a sewerage scheme were also submitted for The Commons in September, 1933. The plans had not been properly prepared and were returned to the Board of Health for the preparation of new drawings.

No plans appear to have been submitted to the Department for the other areas referred to.

No grants can be allocated to public health works until the drawings submitted are approved.

I am bringing these cases to the notice of the Commissioner.
