Vol. 60 No. 6

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Death Penalty

asked the Minister for Justice whether he will consider introducing proposals for legislation to suspend the use of the death penalty for a trial period of five years.

I do not propose to introduce legislation on the lines suggested by the Deputy.

If such legislation is introduced by private Deputies will the Government give facilities for its discussion and allow a free vote of the House upon it?

That is a separate question.

Will the Deputy introduce private legislation in connection with Question 4?
