Vol. 62 No. 14

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Housing Scheme for Cahirciveen.

asked the Minister for Local Government and Public Health whether representations have been made to him with reference to the urgent necessity for a housing scheme for the workers in Cahirciveen, County Kerry, and, if so, whether he intends to take any steps to push forward a housing scheme in that area.

Representations have been made to me regarding the necessity for a housing scheme in Cahirciveen. The Kerry Board of Health and Public Assistance decided to formulate a scheme, but owing to the extremely large amount outstanding in respect of rents of existing cottages in the county health district I have, in justice to the ratepayers of the area, deferred consideration of sanction to further schemes until the board have taken action to remedy the unsatisfactory state of the rent collection.
