As the Dáil is already aware, the trade agreement concluded with Great Britain at the beginning of 1936, is being continued for another year. Following further discussions, certain adjustments have been made in the arrangements for the regulation of Saorstát Eireann exports of cattle and bacon entering the United Kingdom. The United Kingdom Government have agreed to remove the present special duty of 20 per cent. ad valorem on live horses imported from Saorstát Eireann. The Government of Saorstát Eireann on their side have agreed to remove the existing emergency duties on sugar and subsidiary products of United Kingdom origin. The removal of the duties will take effect as from Monday next.
