Vol. 66 No. 3

Ceisteanna—Questions. Oral Answers. - Amendment of the Law.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he has considered the necessity for the reform of the law in reference to the liability of a husband for his wife's torts, and in reference to proceedings against and contributions between joint and several joint tort feasors, and whether he is prepared to promote legislation on the lines of the British Act entitled the Law Reform (Married Women and Tort Feasors) Act, 1935.

asked the Minister for Justice whether he is aware of the necessity for amending the law relating to arbitration, and whether he will promote legislation with a view to bringing the law in this country up-to-date in reference to that matter.

I propose to take questions 5 and 6 together. So far as the Department of Justice is concerned, there is no prospect of legislation on the lines suggested in these questions being introduced during the present session.
